Sustainable construction

Sustainable before sustainability had a name.

Gullringsbo was engaged in sustainability long before it became a word on everyone’s lips. In 2000, Svenska Hus became the first property company in Sweden to receive quality and environmental certification under FR 2000. In 2010, MVB built Sweden’s first passive-house school. Energy efficiency and sustainable materials are not an external requirement. They are how we think.

Research and foundations

We invest in the industries we depend on.

That is why we support research. We have awarded scholarships and funded prizes in sustainable construction.

The Foundation for the Development of Energy-Efficient Construction was established in 2010. From 2021-2026, the Eliasson Family Foundation donated SEK 10m to a professorship in energy-efficient construction at Lund University. This is Gullringsbo’s way of investing in the industries we operate in, for future generations.

The Art Collection and Hospitalet

We collect more than properties.

In 2011, we decided to build a collection of contemporary art. In 2020, Danvikens Hospital, one of Stockholm's most historic buildings overlooking Djurgården, was acquired. These commitments reflect a belief that a good company contributes to more than financial returns. Art, culture and history are part of the legacy we want to leave behind.

ESG

We work systematically with environmental, social and governance matters. Not because we have to, but because it is the right thing to do.

Environment

We reduce the climate impact of our operations and encourage our businesses to do the same. Svenska Hus operates five solar energy parks in the Gothenburg region. Energy efficiency and sustainable materials are priorities across the whole group.

Social

Our employees should thrive, develop and have genuine influence. We take responsibility for work environment, diversity and the communities we operate in. Combating corruption and respecting human rights are fundamental requirements we place on ourselves and our suppliers.

Governance

Each business is governed by an independent board within clear financial frameworks. Transparency, accountability and ethics are not additions. They are the foundation.
